Republic Fence & Stain is owned and operated by a sixth-generation East Texan who believes quality work and accountability still matter. Built on a reputation earned through straightforward pricing and attention to detail, we are committed to doing the job right—and standing behind it.
When it comes to fence installation, small decisions make a big difference.
At Republic Fence & Stain, our work is guided by specific construction standards we follow on every project—not shortcuts, not “good enough,” and not whatever gets the job done fastest.
Here are the six standards that define how we build fences.
The post is the foundation of the fence.
Our fence posts are either driven or set based on soil conditions, with driven posts installed deeper and using thicker-wall posts for added strength and stability.
We use 16-foot rail boards instead of shorter sections whenever possible. Longer rails allow joints to be staggered across posts, creating an interlocking structure that distributes wind and impact loads more evenly.
This approach reduces weak points, improves overall fence strength, and helps the system perform better during high winds common in East Texas.
Fasteners matter more than most homeowners realize.
We use electrogalvanized ring-shank nails in proper lengths, driven at opposing angles. This creates a “root-like” holding pattern that helps fence pickets resist movement, twisting, and warping as the wood expands and contracts.
It’s a small detail—but one that significantly affects how a fence looks over time.

An uneven top line is one of the first things people notice on a fence.
Instead of relying on string lines that can shift or sag, we use a 10-foot bump jig to maintain a consistent reveal across the entire fence. This produces a straight, clean top line that holds its appearance when viewed straight on or at an angle.
Uneven rail spacing affects both appearance and performance.
We take the time to space rails evenly across the fence to ensure consistent load transfer and a cleaner look—especially on the rail side of the fence. This attention to symmetry improves visual balance and reinforces the structure as a whole.
Not all lumber belongs in a finished fence.
We evaluate materials before installation and cull boards with defects that could compromise durability or appearance. We also manage bottom clearance carefully to keep wood off the ground, allowing debris and moisture to pass underneath without wicking upward into the fence.
The goal is a fence that looks good the day it’s built—and continues to perform for years.
At Republic Fence & Stain, our work is guided by clear construction standards, not shortcuts or sales pressure.
Every fence is planned, built, and finished with long-term performance in mind—because the details you don’t always notice on day one are the ones that matter most years down the road. If you’re looking for a fence company that values transparency, craftsmanship, and accountability as much as you do, you’ll feel the difference in how we build.
